Raving Rabbids (2022)
Created a rig based on the video-game character Raving Rabbids
With this weighting and binding project, I had a number of difficulties in terms of the location of the weight. I started with the weighing of the arm area because it has a lot of details, such as the thumb, elbow, and fingers. Afterwards, I work my way down to the leg. It's surprising how difficult this leg section is to paint because the character's leg area is so little that it's difficult to distinguish between the foot and the knee area. The legs get quirky and glitchy just by sliding the control of the foot to the side horizontally. I played around with the control, moving it around and observing the areas that needed to be painted or smoothed out in order to achieve a realistic, smooth movement effect. From there, I gradually worked my way up to the top of the character.
Most of the time, I end up smoothing things out too much or modifying parts that shouldn't have been touched in the first place, such as the elbow area, which was fine from the start. Several layers of repainting, as well as trial and error, were required before I was successful in creating a character with fluid motion but a soft, jelly-like shape. The one thing I was glad I did was change the color of the weight. The contrasting colors  makes it easier to distinguish between one hue and another and speeds up the procedure overall.
